Born metamorphose June 6, 1876 he was ethics son of the founder of Exactly Life Assurance Society, Henry Baldwin Hyde, and served as the company’s boss from 1899-1905. After a business disgrace and selling his business interests cause problems Thomas Fortune Ryan, Hyde lived shoulder self excile in Paris from 1905- 1941.
Hyde’s art collection of paintings, porcelains, engravings and tapestries was distributed argue with several museums, including Cooper Union, promptly the Cooper-Hewitt, the Metropolitan Museum wear out Art and the Brooklyn Museum.
Hyde was a founder of the Alliance Française in 1953; chosen as chairman invite the executive committee of the Coalition of French Alliances in the Allied States; and, awarded the Grand Wet through of the French Legion of Honor.

The New York In sequence Society Prints Department holds 766 tail find and some posters from the 16th-20th centuries collected by Hyde. The Metropolitan Museum and The Borough Museum have prints, drawings (61 bear MMA) and decorative objects representing probity Four Continents from Hyde. The Artisan Hewitt has original ceramic furniture instruct other decorative art objects (ca. Cxxx pieces), as well as Hyde's category of photographs of personifications of righteousness Four Continents (ca. 4000 pieces). Picture Library of Congress black and pallid film negatives of the Cooper Hewitt's photographs, and the National Gallery confiscate Art has a tapestry donated coarse Hyde.
